What Makes You Really Happy?

Let your conduct be without covetousness; be content with such things as you have. For He Himself has said, “I will never leave you or forsake you.” Hebrews 13:5

Have you ever really, REALLY wanted something? Maybe it was a new video game, a cool pair of shoes, or a toy that everyone else had. You thought, If I could just have that, I would be so happy! But here’s a secret: Stuff doesn’t make you happy...at least not for long! Sure, getting something new is exciting at first. But pretty soon, you get used to it. Then you see something else you want. And the wanting never stops! The Bible tells us to be “content” with what we have....

The Bible tells us to be “content” with what we have. Content means being satisfied and thankful instead of always wanting more. But how can we do that when there’s always something new and shiny to want?

Because God promises “I will never leave you or forsake you.” When we really understand that we have God, we realize we have everything that matters! Toys break. Games get boring. Clothes go out of style. But God’s love for you never changes and never goes away. That’s what can make you truly forever happy!

Take Action: The next time you catch yourself really wanting something, stop and thank God for three things you already have. Then tell God, “Thank You that You are what I really need and that You’ll never leave me!” See if it helps change how you feel!

PARTNER WITH us

As a father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, the importance of family has always been a core value in my life. I have been a pastor for decades, watching families grow and generation after generation come up in faith. That is why Bible Strong Kids is so important to me. What better legacy to leave for our children and grandchildren than to raise them up in faith, strengthening them for the journey ahead all the way into adulthood?

I hope you will join us in this endeavor to create the next generation of Bible Strong Kids—children who know their worth in God’s eyes and are equipped to shine His light in an increasingly dark world.
