Inside and Out
Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For you are like whitewashed tombs which indeed appear beautiful outwardly, but inside are full of dead men’s bones and all uncleanness. Even so you also outwardly appear righteous to men, but inside you are full of hypocrisy and lawlessness. Matthew 23:27-28
Imagine seeing a beautifully wrapped present with a sparkly bow on top. It looks amazing! But when you open it…it’s full of garbage. Yuck! What a disappointment! The outside looked great, but the inside was gross!
Jesus once called some religious leaders “whitewashed tombs.” In those days, tombs (places where dead people were buried) were painted white so people wouldn’t accidentally touch them. They looked clean and nice on the outside, but inside…dead bones and yucky stuff!
Jesus was making an important point: These religious leaders looked good on the outside. They wore special clothes, said fancy prayers, and followed lots of rules. But their hearts weren’t right with God! They were full of pride, nastiness, and sin. They were pretending to be something they weren’t. That’s called being a hypocrite.
God doesn’t just look at how we act on the outside. He sees our hearts! We can go to church every Sunday, memorize Bible verses, and be nice to people when they’re watching. But if our hearts are full of jealousy, anger, or selfishness, God knows it!
That’s why we need a real relationship with Jesus! When Jesus lives in our hearts, He changes us from the inside out. It’s not about looking good; it’s about being good because Jesus is making us new!
Think About It: Talk to God honestly about what’s in your heart. Is there any sin hiding in there that nobody else can see? Confess it to God and ask Him to clean you up on the inside. That’s what really matters to Him!

PARTNER WITH us

As a father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, the importance of family has always been a core value in my life. I have been a pastor for decades, watching families grow and generation after generation come up in faith. That is why Bible Strong Kids is so important to me. What better legacy to leave for our children and grandchildren than to raise them up in faith, strengthening them for the journey ahead all the way into adulthood?
I hope you will join us in this endeavor to create the next generation of Bible Strong Kids—children who know their worth in God’s eyes and are equipped to shine His light in an increasingly dark world.
