Be Salty!
Let your speech always be with grace, seasoned with salt, that you may know how you ought to answer each one. Colossians 4:6
Have you ever noticed how a tiny pinch of salt can make food taste so much better? Plain popcorn is okay, but add a little salt and—yum! The Bible says our words should be like that: making things better for the people who hear them.
Today’s verse gives us three tips for how to talk. First, our words should be “with grace.” That means kind, gentle, and helpful. Think about how kind God is to you, and let your words be just as kind to others.
Second, our words should be “seasoned with salt.” Just like the right amount of salt makes food taste good, kind and interesting words make people want to listen. Your words can actually make someone’s whole day better!
Third, we should “know how to answer each one.” That means paying attention to what the other person needs. Sometimes a friend needs cheering up, and sometimes they just need someone to listen. The Holy Spirit can help you know what to say and how to say it. Just ask Him!
Take Action: Be a “salt and grace” talker today! Before you speak, especially if you feel like saying something grumpy, pause and ask yourself two quick questions: “Is this kind?” and “Will this make things better?” Then try to say at least three encouraging things to people today. Maybe a compliment, a thank-you, or a word of cheer. Ask the Holy Spirit to help your words be kind and helpful. Watch how good words can brighten someone’s whole day!

PARTNER WITH us

As a father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, the importance of family has always been a core value in my life. I have been a pastor for decades, watching families grow and generation after generation come up in faith. That is why Bible Strong Kids is so important to me. What better legacy to leave for our children and grandchildren than to raise them up in faith, strengthening them for the journey ahead all the way into adulthood?
I hope you will join us in this endeavor to create the next generation of Bible Strong Kids—children who know their worth in God’s eyes and are equipped to shine His light in an increasingly dark world.
