Active Waiting
Rest in the Lord, and wait patiently for Him…. Cease from anger, and forsake wrath; do not fret—it only causes harm. Psalm 37:7-8
Waiting is HARD, isn’t it? Waiting in a long line. Waiting for your birthday. Waiting for recess to start. Waiting for a grown-up who said “in a minute” (about ten minutes ago!). When we have to wait, we can get antsy, impatient, and grumpy.
King David knew about waiting too. Sometimes he felt like he’d been treated unfairly, and he wanted God to fix everything right away. But in this psalm, David gives some great advice: “Wait patiently” for the Lord. And he also says, “do not fret”—don’t sit there stewing and getting angry, because that only makes things worse.
But here’s the cool part: waiting on God isn’t supposed to be like sitting and doing nothing. It’s “active waiting.” While we wait for God to work things out, we can keep praying, keep doing what’s right, and keep trusting Him. Waiting can actually be a time when we grow closer to God instead of just tapping our foot!
Take Action: Is there something you’re waiting on right now? Try turning your “impatient waiting” into “active waiting.” Here’s how: instead of complaining or stewing, pray about it each day and ask God to help you trust Him. Then look for one good thing you can do while you wait. Waiting patiently and actively is a way of telling God, “I trust You to take care of this!”

PARTNER WITH us

As a father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, the importance of family has always been a core value in my life. I have been a pastor for decades, watching families grow and generation after generation come up in faith. That is why Bible Strong Kids is so important to me. What better legacy to leave for our children and grandchildren than to raise them up in faith, strengthening them for the journey ahead all the way into adulthood?
I hope you will join us in this endeavor to create the next generation of Bible Strong Kids—children who know their worth in God’s eyes and are equipped to shine His light in an increasingly dark world.
