Five Marks of Love
To Him who loved us and washed us from our sins in His own blood… to Him be glory and dominion forever and ever. Amen. Revelation 1:5-6
Hold up your hand and look at it. Five fingers, right? Now here’s something people have thought about for hundreds and hundreds of years: after Jesus rose from the dead, He carried five marks on His body. Two in His hands. Two in His feet. One in His side.
Remember Thomas? He was one of Jesus’ disciples, and when everybody told him Jesus was alive, he couldn’t believe it. He said he’d have to see the marks himself. So Jesus showed up and said, basically, “Here. Look. Touch.” And Thomas dropped to his knees and said, “My Lord and my God!”
Think about this: Jesus didn’t have to keep those marks. He came back from the dead with all the power in the universe. He could have come back looking however He wanted. But He kept them. Those five marks are permanent proof of how much He loves you.
Honestly, our brains are too small to understand a love like that. It’s like trying to hold the whole ocean in a paper cup. We might not even understand it fully in heaven! But there’s one thing you can do right now. You can say thank you.
Take Action: Try a “high five” prayer this weekend. Hold up one hand and use your five fingers to count out five specific things you’re thankful to Jesus for. Not general stuff, but specific stuff. “Thank You for forgiving me for what I said to my brother.” “Thank You for my grandma.” Touch each finger as you say each one. Then all week, whenever you notice your hand, remember: five marks, on purpose, because He loves you.

PARTNER WITH us

As a father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, the importance of family has always been a core value in my life. I have been a pastor for decades, watching families grow and generation after generation come up in faith. That is why Bible Strong Kids is so important to me. What better legacy to leave for our children and grandchildren than to raise them up in faith, strengthening them for the journey ahead all the way into adulthood?
I hope you will join us in this endeavor to create the next generation of Bible Strong Kids—children who know their worth in God’s eyes and are equipped to shine His light in an increasingly dark world.
