What’s on the Inside
The hidden person of the heart. 1 Peter 3:4
Think about all the ways people take care of themselves. We brush our teeth. We get haircuts. We eat our vegetables (well, some of them). We go to soccer practice and swim lessons. We spend a lot of time and money trying to stay healthy and look good. Taking care of your body is a good thing. God made it, after all!
But what about the inside of you? The part nobody can see?
When God sent the prophet Samuel to pick Israel’s next king, Samuel met a bunch of brothers. The oldest one was tall and strong and looked just like a king. Samuel thought, “This has to be the guy!” But God said no. God told Samuel, “Man looks at the outward appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart” (1 Samuel 16:7). The one God actually picked was the youngest brother, a shepherd boy named David, who wasn’t even invited to the meeting.
God cares way more about what’s going on inside you than about your shoes, your hair, or how fast you can run. The Bible calls it “the hidden person of the heart.” That’s the real you. It’s the part that can be kind or mean, brave or scared, grateful or grumpy. And it can get stronger, just like your muscles do, when you spend time with God.
Think About It: If people could see the inside of you as easily as they can see the outside, what would they notice first? What’s one thing on the inside you’d like God to help you grow stronger this month?

PARTNER WITH us
As a father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, the importance of family has always been a core value in my life. I have been a pastor for decades, watching families grow and generation after generation come up in faith. That is why Bible Strong Kids is so important to me. What better legacy to leave for our children and grandchildren than to raise them up in faith, strengthening them for the journey ahead all the way into adulthood?
I hope you will join us in this endeavor to create the next generation of Bible Strong Kids—children who know their worth in God’s eyes and are equipped to shine His light in an increasingly dark world.
